May 5 (Reuters) - Denmark's Novonesis NSISb.CO reported stronger-than-expected organic sales growth for the first quarter on Tuesday, driven by particularly strong performance in the biosolutions company's Food and Health division.
Strong momentum in the dairy business, which was the main growth driver, reflects rising global demand for protein.
Novonesis provides biosolutions, such as cultures and enzymes, used in milk, fermented milk and cheese
Q1 revenue grew 7% organically to 1.12 billion euros ($1.31 billion), beating analysts' forecast of 6.2% in a company-provided consensus
Group organic growth slowed from the 11% seen a year ago, but was in the upper end of a 2026 guidance range of 5% to 7%
Food & Health unit's 9% growth beat consensus of 6.1%; growth in Food & Beverages held steady despite a strong year-ago comparison
Novonesis announced in April a $50 million deal to buy a production facility with advanced fermentation capabilities in Thailand
Q1 adjusted EBITDA margin was 37.8%, including a strong currency headwind, which narrowly beat market expectations of 37.4%
